DON'T BLAME ME, I VOTED FOR KODOS

It is over yet?

As I type this, I've already been in the voting booth. Got up early, waited in line, did my civic duty. Now all there is to do is wait, try and access The Drudge Report to see the exit polls (taken with the obligatory grain of salt, of course), and rest assured that Buffy and Angel will be inflicted with the dreaded squeezeback so I can find out how the election is going.  Woo. Yeah, I'm so thrilled.

In the end, I walked into the booth and took a few moments. Most of it was easy... Democrat, Democrat, keep the judges, blah blah blah. Then I took a deep breath, and punched the Nader button.  Why Nader? It's for a bunch of reasons. First and foremost, Illinois is already in the Gore column. I'm not worried about the Shrub carrying the state. If Dubya wins by less than 1000 votes, then I'll blame myself.  Otherwise, I felt free to do it. I never wanted Gore to be nominated. I was a Bradley fan. Heck, I didn't even want Bush's nomination. I'd have rather dealt with McCain. Instead, the whole nomination process was settled before I even got a chance to vote. So you know what, Al? Screw you. Then there's Liberman's anti-entertainment/videogame stance. TMC Newsbreak has already covered that ad finitum, so I'll leave it alone for now.

But when push comes to shove, I vote on one issue and one issue only: Gay Rights. I'm sorry, but I'm sick and tired of being a second class citizen in this country. If you don't support me, I won't support you. That's why I voted Republican in the last Governor race. Dubya doesn't support gay rights, and Gore still won't grant full-blown Gay Marriage. Nader, on the other hand, does favor completely equal rights. And frankly, I feel that a vote for Nader might help push the Democrats further Left on the issue. I can only hope.

So that's it. I'm going to post this the moment I get home from work and before the results get posted. Tomorrow we'll know if this country has some brains in their head, or if I might have to consider moving to London.

In other news, here's my new headshot.  Aren't I cute?
