Something's Rotten in Northfield (6/5/98)
Malt-O-Meal, Inc, the Northfield, MN-based cereal manufacturer, is recalling thousands of bags of cereal due to salmonella infection.The recall affects the following brands of Malt-O-Meal cereal: Toasty-O's, Yolk Krispies, and Golden Raw Chicken Pops.
This is not the first time Malt-O-Meal and health officials have clashed. Several years ago, a curious link was discovered between the burned wheat, corn, and rice fumes given off by the Northfield plant, and a series of odd, yet strangely charming mental peculiarities among students and alumni of St. Olaf and Carleton colleges.
