Exhibit Four appeared on May 8, 1998, in rec.arts.sf.tv, back in the days when Trek fans roamed the wide Usenet plains like so many retarded bison.
The moo-cow in question, David Jordan, took exception to the claim that perhaps Brannon Braga (the man responsible for turning Voyager characters Tom Paris and Kathryn Janeway into mutant salamanders, then having them mate, then having one of them give birth to three baby CGI salamanders, then having them turn back into humans again) might not be that good a writer.
Just wait a minute. Brannon Braga has been a wonderful science fiction
writer for a long time and that is what ST is all about. Bringing pure
science fiction in a familiar format. If you have a rough time following
that then your the fan of something else. And who says Voyager is ready
to fail anyway. I feel lucky to be able to have something to look
forward to every week. I am facinated by the possiblities, which is what
good science fiction is all about-what might be.

The above post is entirely true, for sufficiently loose definitions of "wonderful", "writer", "long time", and "pure".
