TV Guide Cartoon Scoop (3/25/98)
The hard-hitting entertainment journalists at TV Guide have done it again, breaking the story about an
underground cartoon few people have heard of.
This show, "South Park", apparently airs on Comedy Central, buried in a late Wednesday time slot. Yet, despite its obscurity, TV Guide gave it a cover, a bold move that represents a drastic shift from its studio-pandering roots.
Inside, the magazine features numerous articles designed specifically to allow someone who's never even heard of the show, (i.e. 99% of Americans) a way to sort of get up to speed on this little-known gem.
We here at TMC NewsBreak, who would not have learned about this show were it not for the intrepid reportage of TV Guide, wish its starving creators loads of success in the years to come. Who knows. Maybe, by the next millenium, I'll be able to walk into a mall and see a T-Shirt with Kenny on it.
