Democratic presidential contender Howard Dean, a strong critic of what he calls President Bush's unilateral approach to foreign policy, urged President Clinton to act unilaterally and enter the war in Bosnia in 1995. (Related item: Text of letter) [...] Dean told Clinton that America had to intervene alone because the United Nations and NATO were unable to act effectively. He called for Clinton to bomb the Bosnian Serbs and supply arms to the Bosnian Muslims.
Mijailo Mijailovic, 25, looked calm during most of his cross examination but raised his voice when a prosecutor repeatedly asked him about his movements in the central Stockholm department store where he attacked Ms Lindh on 10 September.
"I was on my way out but I took a wrong turn. I saw Anna Lindh. Then the voices came," Mijailovic said.
In his confession last week, he said inner voices in the language of his parents from former Yugoslavia had told him to attack and that he believed it was the voice of Jesus.
"I could not resist the voices," he told the court, insisting he had not planned to kill the mother-of-two, aged 46.
In the early 1970s, Dr. Joseph Sharp of the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research used a computer to control a radar transmitter such that for each time a human voice waveform changed from a peak to a valley, the radar transmitter sent out a single pulse, causing a single click to be heard by the test subject. Because these clicks were timed according to the human voice waveform, the test subject heard a voice, rather than a string of clicks. This has not been pursued, at least publicly, due to concerns about the effect of microwave signals aimed at a person's skull, but it does work.
In actual fact, a suitably modified amateur radio transmitter operating in either the 420 to 450 megahertz band or the 1.3 gigahertz band, with a highly directional antenna, is capable of transmitting voice to skull signals at less cost than the price of an automobile.
In addition to simply driving a target crazy, voice to skull can cause far more severe damage to a targetted person if instead of audible voice, one of several types of SUBLIMINAL voice is transmitted instead. When the subliminal voice is that of a hypnotist, and is aimed at a targetted person's bed, voice to skull can be used over time to undetectably program the person. Because the power level required is fairly modest, being something like the output of the common heat lamp, the person being programmed could have no idea this was happening.
A person who is highly susceptible to hypnosis, and about one in five are, could be put through living Hell simply by way of subliminal voice to skull.

The Bushes seem to have come away from all those years of privileged schooling with two things: "a state of permanent adolescence" -- viz., the fondness of both Bush presidents for "pranks, initiations, oaths of secrecy, inner sanctums and other rites of loyalty far into middle age" -- and a "penchant for secrecy and apparent elimination of records and documents." This last was learned on the campus of Yale and in the hallowed chambers of Skull and Bones, that incubator of preppy silliness, clubbiness and secrecy. Yale and Skull and Bones were primary breeding grounds for the OSS, the spy agency of World War II, and the CIA that supplanted it, and Phillips correctly argues that the Skull and Bones world view is essential both to the Bush psyche and to the family's history in public life, from George H.Walker right through to George W.
"Over the years," Phillips writes, the family has had an intimate involvement "with the mainstays of the twentieth-century American national security state: finance, oil and energy, the federal government, the so-called military industrial complex, and the CIA, the National Security Agency, and the rest of the intelligence community." Every effort is made to avoid accountability. The Bush culture is one in which public action is decided in private and conducted with as much secrecy as possible, with no real consultation with the public and as little as possible with its representatives on Capitol Hill: "to script arms sales, launch missile strikes, and order invasions from Panama to the Persian Gulf." As Phillips writes:
"It is an extraordinary record. If there are other families who have more fully epitomized and risen alongside the hundred-year emergence of the U.S. military-industrial complex, the post-1945 national security state and the 21st-century imperium, no one has identified them. Certainly no other established a presidential dynasty." [...] "All in all, if presidential family connections were theme parks, Bush World would be a sight to behold. Mideast banks tied to the CIA would crowd alongside Florida S&Ls that once laundered money for the Nicaraguan contras. Dozens of oil wells would run eternally without finding oil, thanks to periodic cash deposits by old men wearing Reagan-Bush buttons and smoking twenty-dollar cigars. Visitors to 'Prescott Bush's Tokyo' could try to make an investment deal without falling into the clutches of the yakuza or Japanese mob."
It is a gloomy, even frightening picture: "global oil ventures, national security, sophisticated investments, arms deals, the Skull and Bones chic of covert operations, and committed support of established business interests. . ."
The TOTAL INFORMATION ANALYSIS Washington bureau caught up this Sunday with U.S. Army Col. Doug Rokke (Ret.), in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Library at an event put on by the DC Antiwar Network.
Rokke, a Physics Ph.D., is former Director of the US and International Depleted Uranium Project and the former Army Health Physicist for the Gulf War I Depleted Uranium Team. VALPARAISO, Chile -- Congresswoman Maria Pia Guzman is a strait-laced conservative who has suddenly and unexpectedly become an outcast at the Congress building here. . . .
Guzman did not unleash the sex scandal now rocking Chile's political and social elite, a sordid tale centered around a millionaire businessman and some runaway teenagers.
But she did publicly link a handful of congressmen and senators to the case, suggesting some of her own political allies might be involved in an alleged ring of prostitution and child pornography. And for that, some of her fellow legislators will not forgive her.
When she gets in an elevator with other congressmen, they often step out. "There is a very strong psychological warfare going on," Guzman said . . .
A Catholic television station, a blackmailed judge, and the front-runner in the next presidential election have all, in one way or another, been touched by the controversy.
[Seven] have been criminally charged in the case, on allegations ranging from rape to "inciting child prostitution." At least two legislators have been questioned by the judge investigating the case . . .
Santiago daily newspaper El Mercurio published a poll in which 74 percent of respondents said they believe politicians are involved in the sex ring. [...] There is evidence that in the . . . network there are politicians," Guzman told reporters, sharing information that had come to her from contacts at a shelter for abused youths. "Two of them are from the Alliance for Chile and one from the Christian Democrats."
Those comments opened the media floodgates. A few days later, news reports named Senator Jovino Novoa of the Independent Democratic Union as one of the suspects in the case. Novoa has not commented publicly . . .
The ousted Iraqi dictator, who is currently under custody with the coalition forces, suffers from cancer of lymph glands, Kuwaiti Al-Anba daily reads, citing an Iraqi official. According to the daily, the disease is in an advanced stage, so doctors predict the former dictator would probably live a couple of years more.
Doctors came out with the fatal diagnosis while making thorough medical checking of Saddam Hussein at his capture near his hometown of Tikrit in December 2003.
Allegations of Saddam's illness appeared during the military campaign in Iraq last year, when one of his private doctors, residing in Syria, claimed that the former dictator suffered from cancer.
