Line" Subject: FT Sub-light Scenario #1a (the FIxed version) Status: RO X-Status: Ok here is the first Full thrust sub light scenario I promised you guys a few weeks back. Sorry it took so long to post but I have a life off the net too you know. Background: By the 2030's century the nations of Earth had once again arranged themselves into competing alliances. Soon a new cold war had begun with the Chinese dominated Greater Eurasian Economic and Security Cooperation Pact (GEESCP) on one side and the Western dominated Global Security Alliance (GSA). This time however competition between the blocks was made all the more intense as population pressures increased competition for recourses. Soon the competing alliances turned to space for resources and expansion. By 2052 the two major power blocks had both established, colonies, research facilities, and mining installations throughout much of the inner solar system. To protect these installations both sides began to build fleets of warships and soon the first space arms race had begun. Tensions on Earth began to spill over to the off world colonies and interplanetary war became and increasingly plausible option. In 2061 a anti-GEESCP revolt in the Russian Republic finally provided the spark that ignited the long awaited war between the two blocks. This time however the global war would spill over beyond the confines of Eath as the rival fleets classed in the vacuum of space, the surface of the moon and on Mars. Scenario #1: First Blood; the Battle for Eureka Station. With the beginning of hostilities the Admiralties of both Chinese and Western space fleets began to hurriedly but their contingency war plans into action. While the main theater of the war in space would be the Near Earth Space between Terra and the Moon, many key targets lay outside of this zone. Some of the most critical of these were the mining station in the astroid belt that fed vital raw materials to both sides' war machines. One such attack occurred when the Commanding Admiral of the 5th Squadron of the Peoples Space Liberation Fleet saw an opportunity to destroy the GSA mining base at Eureka Station which he belived was only lightly defended. While Admiral Hsin's force was composed of only relatively obsolete ships, he had the advantage in numbers and in having one of the few Capital ships in the belt sector; the aging but still potent Guided Missile Battle Cruisers Cho En Li. Unfortunately for the Chinese the GSA was not taken by surprise. Early warning station monitored the sortie of the Chinese ships and Admiral Jenson of the 8th Space Force dispatched every ship he could spare to defend the station. By the time the Chinese arrived a reinforced cruiser squadron would be waiting for them. Forces. They may not conduct any type of FTL operations. This represents that earth has not yet developed FTL drive capability yet ( although both sides are working on it like mad ). Maximum Speed restriction. No ship may exceed a speed of 24 inches (or cm.so) a turn. This represents the limits of there sub light propulsion technology. Disengagement: To successfully disengage from a battle a ship must either leave the board completely or be at least 54 inches from the nearest enemy ship or base. Ship mass to weapons ratio: The ships in this scenario use 60% of their mass availed for equipment instead of the normal 75% stated in the normal rules. In this scenario Earth is still in it infancy in conducting manned space operations. The technology involved in sub light space travel is still pretty bulky and takes up a lot of room aboard ship. If one player fails to achieve his primary goal then a just the victory level one level in his opponent's favor.
