4/5 Crash Team Racing (PSX)

Screw innovation. Sometimes, you just gotta take the best, rip it off, add a couple things to make it your own, and get it out there. It didn't work for Harsh Realm, but it works just dandy for Crash Team Racing.

You know Mario Kart? For SNES? Take that game. Add the vertical component of Mario Kart 64, and the adventure component of Diddy Kong Racing. Take out all that Mario stuff and put Crash Bandicoot stuff in it's place. Bingo. Crash Team Racing.

Go around the tracks. Shoot weapons at your opponents. Grab airtime and powerslide. Turbo boost. Come in first. Race against your friends. Race against the computer. Race against the clock. All in some of the best, smoothest, fastest graphics Playstation has to offer this late in its life. Throw in a glitch-free, fast four-player split screen mode (something never before achieved on PSX until Quake II came out a few days beforehand) and the wacky Crash Bandicoot art direction, and you've got one hell of a time-killer.
