Kilby Go Byebye (5/4/98)

Craig Kilborn, feminist leader and part-time host of Comedy Central's "The Daily Show", will leave that particular choice gig in August to take over for Tom Snyder as host of CBS' "The Late Late Show".

Kilborn, suspended for a week in December for making derogatory remarks to "Esquire" about his female co-workers on TDS, said in an interview that he was "proud to be joining the network that brought us Jimmy the Greek."

CBS is gambling that Kilborn's young, hip references to his hair and obscure in-jokes about his former ESPN co-workers will entertain the four dozen insomniacs who make up "The Late, Late Show"'s core audience.

Experts predict that the career move will expose Kilborn to nearly three times his "Daily Show" audience, leaving him just shy of "Joy Mangano", of Rolykit infomercial fame.
