Good Housekeeping (4/16/98)

Well, it seems that nobody could guess the reference found in last week's "Face On Mars" story, so nobody wins. I've stumped the readership, all five of them. However, I would like to point out that one Drew Johnson, of beautiful Minneapolis, Minnesota, will be kicking himself over and over and over again when he reads that yes, it was an obscure reference to LucasFilm Games' wonderful, early, C-64 graphic adventure, Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders. In which Zak discovers that aliens control the phone company and must travel to the face on Mars to save the world. Or something.

Next, we at TMC NewsBreak feel the need to address the dating issue. And no, this has nothing to do with "getting any", as you scamps so colorfully put it. No, this deals with the fact that every other day or so, TMC NewsBreak has the completely wrong date on it. This is accomplished through the magical forces of "cut", "paste", and "stupidity".

Sure, I could just menially type the Header 2 and Header 3 codes, and the date, and the word NewsBreak every morning, and be assured that my readership (now down to 3 after my use of the phrase "getting any") is free from the vagaries of cognitive temporal dissonance, but I'd rather save those keystrokes getting all of you (still at 3, one person came back but saw "getting any" used a second time and ran away screaming) the fake news you so desperately crave.

There. Now that that's out of the way, the four of us can start wondering what I'm going to be cranky about tomorrow, it being Friday and Editorial Day and all.
