Post Believes Internet (3/18/98)
Yeah, I skipped a day. Think of it as just another cruel whiplash delivered upon you by a cold, uncaring
universe.
The New York Post, vanguard of thoughtful journalism that it is, published a bogus storyline for the "Seinfeld" season finale that it got off of the Internet.
The storyline has the "Seinfeld" characters becoming wealthy and wildly successful in Los Angeles. Insiders
quickly announced that the storyline was completely wrong, and anyone who has watched the show even once
knows that these neurotic, obsessed, nutcases that everyone seems to love for no good reason couldn't even
get their freakish lives in order, much less achieve fame and fortune.
Following the fiasco, the Post announced that it would be scrapping several other "scoops" based on information it received off the Internet, including a plot outline for the new Star Trek movie introducing a 12 year old captain named Marrissa, a mysterious gas that can destroy the world, and a new pie chart showing the percentage of morons on Usenet.
